Design
Brief:
We had to design book covers for three books. These books had to be a series that follows up after each other. The layout of all three books van to be more or less the same and something on the book has to be seen on all three books. I decided on a romance, but a romance with a twist, therefore I brought in a bit of murder and because I love to hunt and love the farm, the story plays off on a game farm. I wanted to design something that is different to the rest. The outside is vintage and girly, I think it is something that will catch your attention without a dought!
Why I have decided this:
Because of my love for nature and hunting, I have decided to "write" a story about a girl who vists her parents on there family farm. She then falls in love with a hunter who hunts there. The second book followsup on the first book, where the two lovebirds are getting married. Don't you worry this is not an ordinary sobby love story, but more like an action love story. In the Karoo that night they here gun shots, I guess not all the quests attended the after party. Still following up, the third book plays of in the third year of the story, the last year. Our married couple and there children are visiting the farm once again. It is not to say that all the characters would return home after a shooting accedent. I want to give the reader a bit more action, 3 books filled with tons of emotion. The names on each book also has to do with love, it is only expressed in three different ways.
Catch my vibe?
My whole idea was to target girl teenagers and to that my books have a very girly look to it but still profesional. It is a real eye catcher. The front cover of each book has the same pictures on it to visually make it a unit. The visuals also gives the reader a hint of what is going on in the book, the buck head: hunting, protea: girly,wedding,love, music sheet background: deep, other elements are from the farm. My colour codes are also soft and rustic colours. I also made use of lace.
How my advertising works:.
My books wil be available at most book stores, specially in places near the Karoo. I would find more interest there for these type of books. I will also be focusing on tourists, most of them like to read and this is a tipical South African story. I will place advertisments in magazines and definity on television. Many poster will be put up in windows and shops. Word of mouth is also an important advertising tecnique. My covers are so beautiful I think they would advertice themselves.
